The Maine Mineral & Gem Museum showcases Maine’s geological history with a gorgeous and very special gallery-like collection of Maine minerals, gems, and extraterrestrial rocks—meteorites from Mars, the Moon and the Asteroid Belt. They have a museum, gallery, excellent store, and provide educational programs and community events. Located downtown Bethel not far from Sunday River and Oxbow Beer Garden.
In 2019, the team at MMGM contacted us to do artwork for their Moon in Maine: Lunar Landing Extravaganza—an event to commemorate the anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon. We had a great time with this, and even were able to utilize some images from NASA’s archives for the collage.
In 2020, to celebrate Maine’s bicentennial which coincides with the anniversary of the discovery of Tourmaline in the Western mountains of Maine, we created the artwork for Tourmaline Turns 200.
